Two defendants were convicted. 100 percent (5) of new defendants were charged with sex trafficking, and 0 percent (0) were charged with forced labor. Virginia federal courts ordered one of two convicted human trafficking defendants to pay restitution to their victim(s) in 2021. This is a decrease from 2020 when six of six convicted Virginia human trafficking defendants were ordered to pay restitution.
